Bert Östlund to leave position of President and CEO of Billerud as of 1 March 2005

Bert Östlund will leave his position as President and CEO of Billerud as of 1 March 2005. Billerud, which comprises the Gruvön, Skärblacka and Karlsborg mills in Sweden, has now completed the first phase of its development following the formation of the company in January 2001. During this phase the focus has been on creating a single company out of the three mills with their different situations and ownership backgrounds. One of the key assignments during this period has been the implementation of a streamlining project. The purpose of this project was to significantly increase both capacity and production at the mills. Bert Östlund’s efforts have ensured that these goals were met and that the company is now well equipped to move onto the next stage of development. This next stage will focus on an enhanced market orientation involving immediate customers and end-users so that, together, we can create more efficient packaging solutions based on Billerud’s extensive knowledge of packaging paper. The next phase will require someone with a different background and experience in order to ensure that the continued progress of the business remains successful. The process of recruiting Bert Östlund’s successor will begin immediately. The acting President of Billerud will be Peter Davidson, Master of Engineering and head of Billerud’s Skärblacka mill since 1999.
