With our commitment to the UN Global Compact and the related declarations and conventions, we undertake to follow the ethical guidelines prescribed for global companies.
Part of corporate culture
Work in this field is governed of the signing the UN’s Global Compact , and the implementation of BillerudKorsnäs’ Code of Conduct. Furthermore the work is guided by company policies covering the operations, anti-corruption and purchasing, with links to the code.
The ten principles of the UN Global Compact are based on a few central documents:
- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- The ILO’s fundamental conventions on human rights in the workplace
- The Rio Declaration
- The United Nations Convention against Corruption
The companies that have signed the UN Global Compact undertake to introduce the ten principles in their strategies, work to embed the principles in their corporate culture and undertake to publically express their support for the UN Global Compact. The company must report on its work on the principles once a year.
For BillerudKorsnäs the UN Global Compact serves as a framework for the entire business. Our Code of Conduct is founded on the ten principles, which in turn steer policies and the way employees are to act.
Other important principles for us to consider in business operations are those outlined in the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
