Future Platform MG
On June 8th 2017 the board of BillerudKorsnäs decided to complete the already started pre-project Future Platform MG. This means that the MG paper machine in Tervasaari is to be moved to Skärblacka and that PM7 in Skärblacka will be upgraded with new surface treatment capacity. The investment amounts to SEK 1280 million.
The aim is both to open new attractive market segments and also to streamline the production structure in the group. Skärblacka will thus become a world centre for the manufacturing of MG paper while Beetham’s role will become clearer, with an increased focus on the development of new grades and the production of smaller series.
“Packaging solutions based on renewable raw materials are parts of the solution to some of the challenges we face in society. In order to contribute to the sustainable future we believe in, we need to constantly develop ourselves and our assets. This investment gives us a production platform for continued growth and increased efficiency within our business area Packaging Paper”, says Per Lindberg, President and CEO.
