Sustainability & Documents
Paper has been produced in Milnthorpe and at the Waterhouse Paper Mill since 1788. In 1791, the mill was converted into milling operations only to return to paper production in the beginning of the 19th century. In 1919, the mill was taken over by Falls Paper Mill Co. Ltd which carried out extensive modernization. The current production facility was established in 1932 but was used for a short period of World War II as a warehouse by The Ministry of Supply. Operations resumed in 1946 with a capacity of 4,000 tonnes per year. In 1954 an MG cylinder was installed and in 1964, Beetham was the leading manufacturer of MG kraft paper in the UK. After a couple of ownership and name changes between 1990 and 1999, BillerudKorsnäs (then Billerud AB) 2004 took over the operation.
