Fourth training module at Skogshem and Wijk, Gustaf maintenance engineer

The fourth and last module took place during 14th and 15th March and the theme for these two days was innovation and personal leadership. We started off with presenting the homework we were given at the previous training session; to come up with a local innovation concept. Our seven local innovation teams each presented their own innovative concept. Many interesting concepts were presented including ideas regarding e-commerce, logistics, products and new work platforms.

Part of the audience was Magnus Wikström, Jon Haag, Orren Shalit, Paulina Ekvall and Martin Neselius who together formed the “Dragons’ den” whose role was to give feedback on the presentations. The rest of the first day we were given a lecture in systematic innovation by Mr. Orren Shalit from Amplify, a company that offers training in innovation but primarily assists clients in innovation processes. We had the opportunity as participants in the training to decide the theme for the last day of the module. We decided on the theme personal leadership and to invite Mr. Torkild Sköld to come and hold a lecture for us. I believe everyone can agree that his words were both thought-provoking and inspiring.

After lunch we proceeded to summarize and evaluate the four modules with assignments in change management, sustainability and innovation. All participants were then given a task to write a letter to themselves that will be posted to them in the future, six months from now. The grand finale was when we were given our certificates for having successfully completed the management training. It was a great feeling and gave a sense of accomplishment. And with that it was all over.

But… The fun continued for the trainees the next day. We went to the head office in Solna to meet with Martin Neselius from BillerudKorsnäs Venture. He gave us a presentation with good insights into venture capital and what BillerudKorsnäs wants to achieve in that area.

This was followed by a visit to NINE, an affiliate company to BillerudKorsnäs. We were very fortunate to meet with CEO Liselotte Tingvall and have her describe what they do and discuss innovation from NINE’s perspective. Before ending our visit we had some very tasty Lebanese cuisine after which we said our goodbyes. Next stop in the trainee program: Gävle.
