Bonjour from Paris

During May, all the trainees are visiting one of our sales offices abroad to get a deeper understanding of the market and of how we work with our customers. We also get to learn a lot from our local customer service teams, which are supporting the business for our different markets.

Time for an update from my trainee month abroad at the Paris sales office!

I travelled here all the way from Örebro by train to make a small contribution in saving the planet! I am proud to work for a company where that is possible, and I hope that we together, to a higher extent in the future, will choose more sustainable ways of travelling when that is possible.

The few last weeks has passed so fast and I have experienced a great mix of customer visits in France and Hungary, days at the office to learn from our customer service specialists and some good spare time in the streets of Paris and French countryside.

I live in a nice, 20 square meter apartment in the 9th arrondissement in the middle of Paris, only a 20 minute walk from the office.

During my first week here I spent two days with our end-user manager Christophe and we visited a small scale converter specialized in making packaging prototypes that are later to be scaled in a larger production facility. We were guided through different techniques used in the making of premium packaging, such as hot foils in different shiny colors.

Christophe also invited me to a trip to Cognac to learn more about the Cognac industry, since luxury drinks is one of the focus segments of our cartonboard business. We went to the town of Cognac to see how Cognac is produced and saw some good examples of cartonboard premium packages.

A nice bonus with travelling to customer meetings has been to see the French countryside. When traveling in Normandie, we lived in a typical French village with an old cathedral and beautiful streets. Another meeting was close to the French Alps and we had the chance to take a small detour after the meeting and say hi to the Alp cows!

At present I am in Hungary and here I have experienced a couple of fun and interesting days of customer meetings with our sales manager Joel and our Hungarian sales agent Andrea.

This month has not been only about work. During evenings and weekends I have enjoyed my temporary Parisian life by visiting museums, eating good food and strolling the streets of Paris.

I have had a blast during these first weeks and I will continue to listen, learn and enjoy the weeks I have left here in Paris. I am so thankful to the French BillerudKorsnäs team who welcomed me warmly and brought me to so many interesting customer meetings and exciting adventures!

All the best,
